Spring CLEAN
Spring fashion is fresh. With April on the horizon it's almost time to put the bulky cable nits away, and glitz off the pastels! Before we know it the grass will be greener and our energy will be jumping. We don't know about you but Spring makes us feel like Marie Antoinette in the 2006 Sophia Coppola film. However, there are other perks to Spring... it's the perfect time for Spring cleaning and freshing up the wardrobe.
Peeking into our Spring inspiration we love slowly bringing back brighter colours into our everyday dress. Do not shy away from vivacious colours, patterns, or prints. Choose wisely when picking your patterns. Spring is for fresh, simple, and delicate. Always go beyond what you're thinking.
Normally when we head into our closet we have an idea in our head of what we want... but it's hard achieving it sometimes. When thinking about how you want to look, pick words that capture your vision and inspire your creativity. For a fragile look incorporate lace into the ensemble. For a sleek look we suggest a silk ivory or buttery trouser. Never be afraid to try new things you wouldn't normally wear. If it's loud and dramatic test it out, but don't be a stranger to simplicity. Remember ambiance is everything! Let's go back to the drawing board and get a real image of what we're channeling.
Making something visual creates a layout, like roadmaps or mood-boards. This can help you really nail the look. Screenshots will do just fine. Our inspiration is coming from all things classic 90's and early 2000's. Putting a specific spotlight on the woman that helped define this style... icons: Carrie Bradshaw, Serena & Blair, Zoe Kravitz, and Gwyneth Paltrow use colour and simplicity as a superpower --- making it look effortless.
Not only do they use simplicity, but you see how they use texture to transform elements of their look. They wouldn't be anywhere if it weren't for their use of texture. Texture is the secret ingredient this season. People ignore the importance of texture and how much it enhances a look. Our inspirations are a reminder that simple detail and bold texture make a look appear stronger... or how less is more.
Incorporating texture is a fun and easy way to turn a boring look into a sophisticated one. Having an outfit that pops makes a difference, similar to when you see a film in the theaters. Seeing it in 2D is fine, but seeing it in 3D sure helps. The same goes for texture. Next time you're getting ready, try layering different pieces and see what blends well together. You never know what's going to click. A saying to remember: if you're doing something different than everyone else, you're doing something right.
